Since 2014

A small roastery, told one year at a time.

Every milestone below actually happened, in roughly this order, to two cousins and a folding table.

  1. 2014

Snow-dusted peaks above a misty valley

    A folding table at Dadaocheng

Two cousins start selling hand-roasted oolong at the Sunday market, roasting each batch the night before in a borrowed kitchen.

  2. 2017

    The first roastery

A former rice warehouse on Dihua Street becomes the roastery. The charcoal pit is dug by hand and still runs every Thursday.

  3. 2019

    Twelve farms, one handshake each

We start buying directly from twelve family farms in Pinglin and Alishan, and pay before the harvest instead of after it.

  4. 2022

A jagged red-rock ridge at sunrise

A tasting room with eight seats

The front of the roastery opens as a tasting room. There is no menu, only whatever came out of the pit that week.

  5. 2026

    Opening the tea school

This spring the upstairs floor becomes a school for brewing and roasting, with evening classes in Mandarin and English.
