Editorial story grid whose cards map one-to-one to CMS fields; opening a card morphs its photo into a full reading view in a native <dialog> (cover, category, date, read time, title, lede, author, body with pull quote, two actions and previous/next stories), and closing shrinks it back into the card and returns focus to it. Plain editable tree: section > container > header (eyebrow, h2, intro, archive link) > a "Story Grid" wrapper component whose props are the controls, holding "Story Card" instances in its stories slot; each card holds a nested "Story Author" instance in its author slot. Grid props (data attributes read by CSS and the inline script): columns (2|3|4) columns on wide screens; layout (center|side|sheet) reading view: a centred two-column modal, a drawer from the inline end, or a bottom sheet; animation (morph|scale|slide|fade|none) morph grows the reading view out of the card photo and shrinks it back on close; duration (ms) and easing (smooth|snappy|spring); aspect (portrait|landscape|square) card photo ratio; cardStyle (minimal|framed|overlay) text under the photo, inside a framed card, or over the photo on a scrim; backdrop (dim|blur|dark); nav (true|false) previous and next story links inside the reading view; radius (s|m|l|xl). Card props: image + imageAlt + focal (center|top|bottom), category + showCategory, date + readTime + showMeta, title, headingLevel, excerpt + showExcerpt, url (the card links here without JS), body, quote + showQuote, body2 + showBody2, showAuthor (author slot), primaryLabel + primaryUrl + showPrimary, secondaryLabel + secondaryUrl + showSecondary, featured (spans two columns with the photo beside the text). Author props: image, name, role. Section options (data attributes): data-theme (light|white|dark) section and reading view surface; data-archive (true|false) header archive link. The card title is a real link that the script turns into a dialog opener; modifier-clicks still open the URL. Escape, the close button and a backdrop click close the view; page scroll is locked while it is open. Reduced motion opens and closes instantly.
