Etch + ACSS: a workflow that scales to 100 sites

Northwind template home page: Revenue clarity for teams that move fast, above a bar chart dashboard

Etch gives you clean structure. Automatic.css gives you design tokens. The trick to running many sites on top of them is simple: when a client changes, you change tokens, never sections.

One token set per site

Every site has its own Automatic.css settings: colours, type scale, spacing, radius and buttons. Patterns never hard-code those values, they ask the tokens, so a single settings change restyles every section on the site.

Start from a brand kit

Etchedy ships 50 brand kits. Apply one and the whole token set changes in a click, with Undo if the client disagrees and Restore if you want your own settings back. Pick the closest kit, then fine-tune in Automatic.css.

Build from patterns, not from scratch

Paste a layout, component or element from the library and it lands as plain, editable Etch content: no wrapper to unpick, no plugin needed on the live site. Layers, classes and the CSS panel work exactly as they always do.

Save what you reuse

  • Save to Etchedy keeps your own blocks next to ours.
  • Folders group them, for example one folder per client.
  • JSON import and export moves a block between sites in seconds.

Start whole sites from a ready-made website

When a project needs everything at once, import a complete website: pages, dynamic templates, post types, fields, forms and design in one guided flow, with Undo on the last screen.

The workflow is boring on purpose. Same tokens, same patterns, same checklist, every site.
