Updates

2 min read, updated Oct 19, 2026

Etchedy updates like any other WordPress plugin, and new patterns arrive inside those updates.

Check your version

On the Dashboard tab, the Version and updates card shows the version you have installed and the latest one. Click Check for updates to look now. You can also use Tools → Force update check.

Install an update

When a new version is available it appears in WordPress under Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins screen, just like other plugins. Click View details to read the changelog, then update as usual.

Updates need an active license

Updates are delivered to sites with an active license. On the free plan you can keep using what you have, and you can install a newer free download from etchedy.com at any time.

If your license expires

A yearly license that is not renewed expires on its renewal date. Here is what happens next:

  • Updates pause right away. Etchedy shows a notice with a Renew link in the admin bar, on the Etchedy screens and on the License tab.
  • Pro keeps working for 7 days, so you have time to renew without losing anything.
  • After 7 days Etchedy switches to the free edition. Pro items and the agency tools lock until you renew. Patterns you already pasted keep working.
  • Renew at any time from your account on etchedy.com. As soon as the license is active again, updates and Pro come back.

What an update brings

Paid plans receive new patterns about every week, and fixes between them. Anything you pasted earlier is not changed by an update, because pasted patterns are plain Etch content on your pages. If you changed the library files on disk by hand, run Tools → Re-sync library afterwards.
